Gregorio Allegri - Miserere

Roy Goodman, now a famous conductor with recordings on many fine labels, was the boy treble on this excellent recording of an obscure renaissance piece many years ago that is now being recorded by everyone wanting to join in on the success of this magnificent example of renaissance polyphony. This performance still remains one of the best because of it's warm and natural church sound, which suits the intent of the music very well. Many other fine vocal groups have recorded this masterpiece, the Tallis Scholars being one great example, but as excellent as they are, seem to fall just a bit short of the "sacred" atmosphere this piece requires.
